Physics
2025-2026
This Physics course covers velocity, acceleration, free body force vector diagrams, and dives into the details of Newton's Laws of motion during the fall semester. In the spring we will cover electromagnetism, wave behavior, including sound and light, and end the year with a touch of quantum/astrophysics. This is NOT a trigonometry or calculus-based physics course. The goal of this course is to prepare students for college level physics courses while also being accessible for students who do not intend to pursue upper level sciences. Students will watch videos and answer questions at home each week through the online learning platform Positive Physics. Tuesday class time will focus on laboratory experiences. There will be one major project per semester.
Chemistry will be offered in 2026-27.
HOMEWORK
Approximately 60-90 minutes per day. Lessons and practice questions will be completed through Positive Physics. There may also be supplemental reading and worksheets. More time may be needed during projects or to prepare for tests.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
Parents will need to check that the student is completing the weekly assignment sheet and submitting their work on time. Parents may also help students establish an organizational system at the beginning of the year. Students should be proficient in using home equipment such as a scanner to submit their own work.
