Medieval History
2024-2025
We will be walking into and thru the years of the Church’s growth throughout Europe, while at the same time reliving the exciting yet difficult lives and hard fought battles of the Kings, Popes, Saints, and the little people like us who lived during the Middle Ages, or what secular historians like to call the “Dark Ages”, but what was in reality the spreading light of Christ and His Gospel. We will be reading books like King Author and His Knights by Howard Pyle, Famous Men of the Middle Ages, The Story of the Church, Saint Dominic, and Many more. To end the year, we will take a peak into the Renaissance with a little book on Galileo. I look forward to this walk through Medieval History with you!
> Greek & Roman History will be offered again in 2025-26.
HOMEWORK
The class should take no more than approximately 45 minutes to an 1 hour each day. There will be reading, map work, history questions, activities, some possible videos, daily summaries, and an essay at the end of each semester.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
Hello Parents! Please have your scholars print out their weekly schedule and read over all the assignments no later than Tuesday evening. If there is a question about the instructions, have your scholar contact me by Wednesday morning so that they will know what to do at the beginning of the week, rather than asking on Friday. Please monitor them during the week, encouraging the daily work. On Monday, please make sure they have finished their assignments and have all their work and materials packed and ready to bring to class.

Students need to have a Timeline Book, art sketch books work well. They need to have a notebook to write and keep daily summaries in and add class notes - the small black and white marble lined book is perfect. They will also need a ringed binder, or bracket folder for loose-leaf papers for their homework assignments which have to be turned in and should not be paper taken from their summary book. They need a pocket folder to keep their traced maps. And they need pencils and pens. They will need a small poster and colored pencils or markers, or paints for creating their “Coat of Arms”.
