This step-by-step, non-threatening approach to writing empowers students to improve their writing skills by learning to compose and edit compositions from various genres. We will focus on mastering the advanced writing techniques using hands on techniques as well as a variety of games and activities.
This class will be primarily focused on getting students ready to write for a high school course. We will cover:
- Writing reports
- Narrative writing
- Persuasive writing
- Opinion essays
- Compare and contrast essays
- Essays that describe or define
- Timed essays
We will also practice how to successfully use quotations in writing to support arguments and cover the basics of MLA and APA citations.
Students will be finishing the second half of the Analytical Grammar text for explicit grammar instruction to aid them in their pursuit of becoming concise and persuasive writers.
