Literature & Reading Comprehension
2025-2026
This course is designed around the idea that fluency enables comprehension, and that good readers are purposeful and active. Students must be engaged/invested in text to understand text. In this class, students will learn and apply various reading strategies to make sense of a variety of print and non-print texts. Also, students will read a variety of literary genres including short stories, poems, plays, novels, and nonfiction. Upon reading these materials, students will complete different exercises such as comprehension tests, open responses, projects, and writings.
We will concentrate our focus on improving reading skills and our enjoyment of texts to not only make a good grade in class but to develop lifetime readers (hopefully!).
