Learn both English grammar and Latin simultaneously through a single course. Verb study will give students a solid working knowledge of the six different tenses, subject-verb agreement, points of view, infinitives, indicative active verbs, and linking verbs. In addition, students will study the different types of nouns (subject, direct object, indirect object, possessive, objects of the preposition, predicate nominative), how they function in a sentence, how to diagram them, and subject-verb agreement. Adjective study will include the “foreign” concept of gender agreement and the use of predicate adjectives. All of this will be accomplished in both Latin and English! This grammatical approach to learning Latin, along with over 175 vocabulary words, will provide a substantial foundation for further Latin studies through middle and high school.


>Second Form Latin will be offered again in 2026-2027.

 

HOMEWORK

Students should expect to spend 30-45 minutes 4 days per week outside of class dedicated to workbook pages, vocabulary study, grammar rule memorization, and online study aids. Quizzes and tests will be taken at home. 

 

PARENT RESPONSIBILITY

Parents MUST check student workbook pages DAILY in order to make sure students are practicing the homework correctly. This is imperative since the students will only be with the tutor once per week! Purchase of the Answer Key is mandatory for this purpose.
