OLGC Canvas — Privacy Policy

OLGC Canvas ("the app") is the mobile companion to the learning management system operated by Our Lady of Good Counsel Homeschool Community ("OLGC", "the school") of Fort Worth, Texas. The app is published by Wojo Studios, LLC on behalf of OLGC and is intended solely for OLGC's teachers, students, and parents.
The short version
The app is a window into the school's own Canvas server. Your information lives on the school's system - not ours. We show it to you; we don't collect it for ourselves, we don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking, and we never sell or share your information with anyone.
Information the app accesses
When you sign in with your school-provided Canvas account, the app displays information from the school's Canvas server (canvas.olgcfw.com), including:
This information originates in and remains on the school's Canvas server. The app requests it over an encrypted connection and displays it to you.
Information stored on your device
Signing out or uninstalling the app removes this information from the device.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, the app registers your device's push token with the school's Canvas server so it can send you notifications (for example: new announcements, messages, and grades). Push messages are delivered through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SNS) and Apple or Google's notification services, which act as delivery carriers. You can turn notification categories on or off inside the app, or disable notifications entirely in your device settings.
Signing out deactivates push to that device.
Camera and photos
Students may attach photos or files when submitting an assignment. The app accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to attach something, and the selected files are uploaded directly to the school's Canvas server as your submission. The app does not otherwise access your photos.
What we do NOT do
Service providers involved in operating the app are limited to: the school's own Canvas server, Amazon Web Services (push notification delivery), and Apple / Google (app distribution and push transport).
Children's privacy
OLGC serves students in grades 6-12, and some student users may be under 13. Student accounts are created only by the school, with parental knowledge and consent obtained through the school's enrollment process. The app collects no information from any user for commercial purposes, and student information is used solely to provide the school's educational services, at the school's direction. Parents may review their student's information through their own parent account or by contacting the school.
Managing or deleting your information
Accounts are created and managed by the school - there is no in-app account creation. To correct or remove your information, or to close an account, contact the school at [email protected]. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the school will notify the community (for example, via a Canvas announcement) and this page will be updated with a new effective date.

Information the app accesses

- Your account details (name, email address, profile photo)
- Educational records: courses, assignments, grades, submissions, and calendar events
- Messages sent and received through the Canvas Inbox
- For parents: the same information for the students you are linked to as an observer

- Sign-in tokens are stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) so you stay signed in.
- Cached content (such as recently viewed courses and messages) is stored temporarily on the device so the app loads quickly.
Signing out or uninstalling the app removes this information from the device.

If you allow notifications, the app registers your device's push token with the school's Canvas server so it can send you notifications (for example: new announcements, messages, and grades). Push messages are delivered through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SNS) and Apple or Google's notification services, which act as delivery carriers.
