Middle School Medieval History: The Story of Civilization
Mrs. Emily Hebda
2026-2027
I am so excited to explore the transformative period of Medieval History this year! This course explores the rise and development of Christendom following the conversion of Constantine the Great, tracing how Christianity became a defining force in Western history. We will examine the lives and influence of great saints, including Saint Ambrose, Saint Patrick, and Saint Benedict, whose leadership helped shape spiritual and cultural life across Europe.
No medieval course is complete without the study of the medieval world of knights, castles, crusaders, and the rich traditions of medieval society. We will learn about devastating plagues, groundbreaking exploration, and key innovations—that transformed Europe during this period. Throughout, special attention is given to the central role of the Catholic Church in shaping the institutions, values, and cultural foundations of Western civilization.
> Story of Civilization Volume 3: The Making of the Modern World will be available 2027-2028.
