This course is taught using the KOLBE syllabus in two semesters. The student will study the benefits and get the results of using proper names and descriptions of the structures of the human body, hence ANATOMY. Furthermore, the student will learn the functions or PHYSIOLOGY of the structures and come to appreciate the complexity of God’s creations.
In the second semester, the book will touch upon ethical issues present in today’s society. Through the light of the Church’s teachings, the book touches upon birth control, fertility drugs, in-vitro fertilization, and genetic engineering in Chapters 19 and 20.
Course content is geared toward students interested in a medical or health-related career or just interested.
> This course is offered every other year. It will be offered again in 2027-28.
HOMEWORK
Homework: Approximately 45 to 60 minutes per day; some weeks may be shorter, some longer. Weekly assignment sheets will be provided to aid the student with organization and time management. More time may be needed for some chapters depending on the student.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
Parents will need to check the student's weekly assignment sheet, monitor assignment progress, and help student prepare for class. (15-20 minutes)
