High School Theology: Patristics and Thomism
Mrs. Angela Solis
2026-2027
This class will be offered through two components to make up a school year. The first semester will focus on a patristics study, using The Bible and The Church Fathers, published by the Saint Paul Institute. Students will learn about the early Christian theologians and their contributions to sacred scripture and tradition.
The second component will introduce a Thomistic philosophical understanding of the human person and love, using the text The Human Person ~ Dignity Beyond Compare, published by The Dominican Sisters of Nashville.
Both components will require students to engage in Socratic discussion and consider the application of the topics at hand.
HOMEWORK
Homework will include reading, viewing, discussion prep, and the occasional written assignment.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
At this level, students are expected to be mostly independent. Parents could remind their students to complete their at home reading, viewing, and prepare for discussion questions. Grades will be published on the CANVAS platform.
